About me

Hey I'm Mikey a Digital Creative & Kinesiologist.

When I was 15 I was an elite soccer player with dreams of building a career playing the game I loved.

In the summer of 2016, I was about to get an opportunity to go on trial for Hercules CF, a professional football club in spain.

But then I got a pretty big curveball thrown at me — as life tends to do.

I broke my leg in a tournament and after 9 months, 8 surgeries, 10+ blood transfusions, and other major procedures... my foot was amputated.

A picture from the day I broke my leg (Yes, it was my birthday)

Along with the long and arduous physical aspects of my recovery, a second order consequence of this whole situation was the complete destruction of my identity.

I went from elite-level athlete, to disabled person... just like that.

Blessings in Disguise

However, in a strange way, this horrible experienced blessed me with invalueable insight early on in life:

When you change the way you view reality, reality itself changes.

I refused to give up my identity as an athlete.

After all what does it mean to be an athlete? – I thought.

It wasn't about training 6 times a week with a club, playing competitively, or having the nicest boots.

It was a mindset.

It was getting up before the sun rises, eating a nutritious meal to fuel your body before giving your all in a training session.

It was the discipline, the drive, the willingness to learn from failures, an understanding of the value of practice, the profesionalism & sportsmanship, the mental fortitude, resiliance, commitment, passion, etc.

It was an attidude towards life – An identity.

And I recognized that I still had full control over that.

Regardless of whether I had ten toes or five – no one could take that from me.

You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength. — Marcus Aurellius

Mastery over Mind & Body

This kicked off a series of events which marked the beginnning of my career, I was passionate about gaining mastery & unity between the mind and body.

And so I went off to study Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, and have been on a self-directed journey of deep study and trying to understand the Mind from all disciplines – Philosophy, Psychology, Neuroscience, etc.

I believe that mastery over the mental and physical planes will allow you to build a deeply fulfilling life.

I mean, think about it, success in any area of life is a second order consequence of deliberately controlling your mind and body towards a worthy ideal...

And only then, through mastery of the mind & body first, can one give their fullest gift and render their highest quality of service in any field, industry, or domain.

Which I believe is our highest calling – service to others through an expression of our own unique gift.

Therefore, this has to be the starting point AND the destination.

My Life's Work

That said, I want to dedicate my life to learning and synthesizing the best ideas of all time in order to gain mastery in these domains.

Sharing them in hopes they serve you build a perspective and understanding of reality that serves you, rather than work against you... just as I have :)

A life of meaningful and fulfilling work, of financial wealh, great relationships, freedom, autonomy, and flow.

If you want to connect with me and a digital tribe of like-minded people, who want to pursue mastery over mind & body... I'm cooking something, don't you worry. 🔨

For now, I'm Learning & Synthesizing.

I'll be posting here every week. Hope this serves you.
